My Life This Week

I'll start out with good news. The past week or so we have experienced lots of sunshine and 70 degree weather. Very nice and unusual for this time of year in Michigan. Steve actually mowed the lawn today, and my perennials are sprouting new growth!

Wednesday I had my physical. I always dread Doctor appointments. I'm thankful I am healthy and don't have to go very often! My appointment was scheduled for 11:10, I got taken to a room at 12:15. What I disliked the most, was the reception room. Five different Doctors use the same reception room for sick, well, young and old patients. Needless to say you have people hacking, snotting and leaking and babies putting everything in their mouths while their parents read magazines! I really think reception rooms should be divided especially between sick and well patients. I am 1/2 inch shorter then I thought I was, 5ft 6inches. My blood pressure was 102/60 and my weight was also good. I have to still get blood work and a mole removed.

Today (Friday) comcast came and installed a home phone, I relented back to having a land line. I can get cable TV, internet and phone for less then I was paying for TV and internet, plus more premium channels. I have to call them because the premium channels are not working. It amazes me how you have to hound people and businesses to do the job right the first time. It can take up most of my day handling customer service problems! Speaking of this I am reminded of last night. I received and e-mail from american express travel that my Boise flight had been changed. I called and they proceeded to tell me on my return flight I now needed to leave Boise at 6am, proceed to Denver, then to Chicago (wait 5 hrs!) then arrive in Kalamazoo at 10 pm. I was supposed to accept this change. Of course if I wanted to change my flight there would be a charge. I told them this was unacceptable. They told me they would refund my money. I made this reservation in January to get a good price, needless to say what their new fee would be. I changed the date to fly home on Sunday the 29th. I can now leave at a better time and go straight to Chicago and an hour later to Kalamazoo. But wait this wasn't all!! My confirmation e-mail did not have me leaving from Boise, but just from Chicago. So again I spent another hour with customer service figuring it out!! I also hate speaking with a customer service rep that speaks english as a second language, I can barely understand!

Micheal has soccer games this week end with his travel team. Saturday is at home and Sunday north of Detroit. We are ready to watch soccer again! He has a pretty intense coach and his team is playing premier 1, which is a top division, so hope they can get some wins!

Hope everyone has a great week end!!

Today is Saturday. Nothing was on the calendar to do today, so Steve and I decided to go visit Dancer. It is a nice day, 65 degrees, patchy clouds.

Dancer lives at Nottawa paint horse farm. We are trying to find someone to lease him. How that works is, we own Dancer, but someone could ride him whenever they want, they would pay the boarding fee every month. We still pay vet bills and feet care. I say "we", but Megan is Dancers' owner and is responsible for his care.

Dancer was out in the pasture munching on grass. We were going to take him in the barn to groom him, but decided to take him out of the pasture, into a grassy area so he could graze while I brushed him. He looks really good, healthy but not fat. I got a lot of hair off him, picked out his feet, conditioned his hoofs,as it gets drier in the pasture his hoofs get real dry and can crack. Megan has hoof conditioner there for him. Horses feet are very important to take care of!Dancer's favorite part was that we brought carrots out for him to eat. O coures after I got Dancer looking clean and white again we released him into the pasture only to have him roll in the dirt! Lance and Dancer are very similar: same colors, both shed a lot, live to eat, and are males! We are very fortunate Dancer has been very healthy, he seems very smart to take care of himself. It is ten years this year that Megan has owned Dancer. Many wonderful memories and shared experiences. Steve and I are glad that we made the decision for Megan to have a horse.

We got home at 1:00 to find Michael still sleeping! Hopefully he is still growing. Michael's friends have a home soccer game this afternoon, so we are going to go to it. Michael's game start next weekend, so this might be our only chance to go see his friends play.

Hope everyone is enjoying their day, and feeling better (mom). love to all.

A Day Off

I have Wednesdays off. Nice to have a day off mid week to get things done. I worked out after breakfast, came home and started cleaning. It is amazing to me that I could clean everyday! I cleaned the kitchen and bathrooms then vacuumed and dusted. Also I've been doing laundry and bedding.
I ran a few errands. One was for Steve. He ordered a golf outfit online, that when he got it, was hideous! It was golf knickers, hat,and socks. He was supposed to get a shirt, but it hasn't come yet. Anyway, the kickers and hat look like they were made for a woman. The place wont refund his money, but they are supposed to give him a credit. He is hoping to get golf shirts. So I sent the outfit back today.
I picked Michael up from school. He wasn't feeling good, headache. He had a dermatologist appointment after school. The Doctor changed his medicine to something different (minocin) for the next month. I guess yesterday they did some career testing at school. Michael tested 99% for science and technology field. He said he would like chemical engineering. (hasn't taken chemistry yet though). I would like to set up some job shadowing for him this summer. I have some options to look into.
It was 66 degrees here with sunshine but windy. I guess I better get dinner going and finish the laundry. Bye for now.

I was the Patient Today

I guess it is a good idea to get the patient perspective every once in awhile. I had a filling done today. I want to make sure everyone knows I did NOT have a cavity, I had an old amalgam filling replaced. I probably had this tooth filled when we still lived in Missoula, was it Dr Barth? (something like that). Well his filling served me well. I am not having amalgam fillings put in anymore because they contain mercury. Studies have shown that the mercury can leak out of these fillings and into your body, not a good thing. So when they start to look old, I get them replaced with the resin type filling. (does not contain mercury) Needless to say I was a great patient. I kept my mouth open, my tongue still, and didn't complain. I will agree that it is not fun. Dentistry has come along way, but someone needs to invent soundless drills. We were discussing lasers today. Dr is going to a class tomorrow. He has been in dentistry over forty years. I am proud to say that he keeps up on all the advances, is very intelligent and stays up to date.
Michael went back to school yesterday and had a biology exam today. It was on genetics, one of my favorites. He said he was OK and didn't need my help. He is at soccer practice tonight. He will only wear his new shoes for the games, his old ones for practice.
Steve and I took Lance for a walk. It was in the lower 60's today. Now Steve is out swinging his golf club across the street in the field. One of his favorite past times. I have been going to my work out place 3-4 times a week. I really like it. I just want to firm up and possibly get stronger. No more news, gonna watch idol tonight. Love to all....

Last day of Spring Break

I have Fridays off, so I wanted to spend some time with Michael, this being his last day of spring break (other then the weekend).

I got up early, which is difficult for me to do on a day off, so I could get errands ran in the morning. I went and worked out, went to the bank. I also had to drop of my wedding ring at the Jewlery store, they have someone on site that does repair work. I have about five diamonds that are loose, so I haven't been wearing it. Come to find out, he has to build up the gold channel areas that have worn thin. It will take ten days or so and cost $325.00. This is my wedding ring, so of course I have to get it fixed, but it wasn't the $50 charge I was hoping for.

I then came home. Michael was up and wondering where I was. Wasn't happy that I didn't leave a note. I thought he'd still be sleeping and told him he could've called me. Then he made me feel guilty by saying he got up early because he knew I was off today. I still had more errands to run, so he went with me. We went to the post office to send out the tax bill. Then to the athletic store. Michael has a Manchester United jersey that has "Beckham" on the back and the letters were coming off. Even though I had ordered it from Eurosport, they repaired it at no charge. We then had lunch at Schlotzkies, they had Michael's favorite soup, chicken and wild rice.
I had a tuna sandwich with pepper chips, they are really good if you haven't tried them. We then ran into Todd Wells, Michael's previous soccer coach/friend of the fam. Michael is going to his house on Sunday to watch Manchester vs Arsenal in soccer. Mikie is a Manchester fan and Todd likes Arsenal, so it will be a cheering match as well.

We then went to Kalamazoo because they have a good soccer store. Michael wanted to just try on the new Vapor shoes to see if they felt as good as the advertisement said they do. It was all in his face, when he tried them on. Granted, Michael has liked shoes since he has worn them. Whenever we shop he likes to look at shoes. I fell for the trap, the joy on his face sold me. He didn't ask for them, but I think he knows I am a sucker. He did thank me and said he doesn't need anything for awhile now. Of course he put them on when he got home, "to break them in". I am hoping his foot doesn't grow too much more. He normally wears a size 10, but soccer shoes are supposed to be tight, so they are 9.5. I still see the little boy when I look at him, hard to believe he is almost done with his first year in high school. It makes me happy that he likes to go to lunch with me and shop. He had to run to the car to get a discount coupon while I waited in the store getting the shoes. The clerk made the comment that we seem to have a great relationship, she doesn't see that much with teenage boys. I hope we always have that.

Working on ME!

Now that I seem to have more time, I've decided to spend it on me! I went on my first workout this morning at "Ladies workout express". Apparently they have these all over the country. I like that it is for women only. I'm planning on four days a week, half hour circuit workout. They have all resistance machines, so no weights to move. I enjoyed it and hope I stick with it.

It is a beautiful spring day here! It is in the 6o's, and feels quite warm. Steve Michael and I all worked in the yard for a couple hours raking and trimming. It is starting to look so much better. Michael is on spring break this week, so I've given him some yard projects to do!

Steve and I took Lance on a walk, another thing we want to do everyday. The loop we take is a mile and a half. Of the three of us, Lance is in the most need of exercise. We have decreased his food, and are trying to give him NO table scraps, he is very unhappy.

We are now going to the high school to play some tennis. It is amazing how much energy you can have on a nice day! Michael has to run everyday and log it for soccer. He has a pretty intense coach, but he seems to like one that works them hard.

Megan calls everyday and seems to be settling in. She started her job today, so I'll hear about it tonight. Thanks to everyone for all the support she has received!
